The Roman numeral for 40 is XL. Since the annual International Film Festival is one of the largest cultural events in Portland, the 40th festival celebrates with everything extra large (XL) – over-sized festival tickets, passes, posters, giant popcorn boxes and other props and promotions. The festival takes place every February, a typically gray, cold and wet time of year in Portland.

The bright green posters and programs add a pop of color around the city as films from over 60 countries illuminate tens of thousands of viewers in multiple theaters across the city.
