New content meant a new layout, new typography, and both new and adapted illustrations and ornaments based on the original charming line drawings. The bilingual and historic nature of the book dictated careful typographic choices for the text. We commissioned original full-page illustrations of Passover-themed stained glass windows from historic U.S. synagogues and used them as section breaks throughout the book.
We adapted the cover illustration from the initial edition's title page. The cover's title treatment is based on the original haggadah's title design, with the word "New" derived from the letters in the original "Union" and "Haggadah.” The sturdy case binding ensures that this edition will enjoy a long and cherished life at the Passover table.
