This is part of an on going project to visit and explore locations that have historical significance. I traveled to the Bayou in Louisiana that was devastated by hurricane Katrina to meet the people that live and work the land. I reached into that magical world to visually distill the various favors and rhythms of that wonderful culture. I sought out people whose appearance and life circumstances were in line with my ideal of the bayou's mythical image. The subjects I chose for the portraits were mostly ordinary and very generous people coping with the personal cycles of boom and bust.
