This was a class project in collaboration with Big Thought, a non-profit organization in Dallas, Texas. The Mobile Tech XPerience (MXP) is a coalition program between Big Thought and Dallas City of Learning. The program aims to offer mobile hands-on learning in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) directly to students who live in low-income areas with less access to creative programming, technology, and transportation. The MXP Bus is an RV that has been hollowed out and redesigned with hands-on STEM learning spaces. Our assignment was to design the branding, the activity process and the space for the MXP bus.
The concept revolved around the idea of creating a transformative space where kidscould freely and comfortably learn and take in new experiences. The design intervention utilized branding, graphic design, service design and interior design. The specific design included bus model selection, space planning and traffic flow, brand identity, visual language, the exterior wrap, and activities.
The project was presented to Big Thought, who responded positively. They also provided feedback on the design solution and the evidence-based design process.
