Originally, we came up with an organic post for Tastykake that took into account how people are not able to travel (especially abroad) during these challenging COVID 19 times. So, with this in mind, we created a whimsical virtual tour of famous sights around the world with a fun twist – using different Tastykake snacks in place of the real thing. In this way, people could travel without leaving the house and, at the same time, we’d whet their appetite for a delicious Tastykake delight. This simple post generated tremendous enthusiasm with many likes and positive comments, which inspired us to turn it into a series of posters.
With this particular “Leaning Tower Of Butterscotch” poster, we wanted the powerful, tasty-looking historical landmark to really stand out. So, we designed it on a vintage postcard complete with an ink stamp from Pisa, Italy -- the place where this real landmark is located. We called this the “Tastykake World Tour” and summed up the whole experience in just three words: Taking Taste Further.
We accomplished several things with this fun and fanciful image. We entertained the public during times of restricted travel by letting people take their imagination to a famous faraway place. And we ultimately proved that some historical landmarks can be reimagined for your taste buds.
