Assignment: The Broadminded team was tasked with designing a robust and dynamic private social network and e-commerce platform that serves the circular economy through the wedding industry. EWedded's business model brings sustainability to the wedding industry by extending the life of luxury goods and contributing to the circular economy. Broadminded Media was tasked with creating a platform that uniquely serves the consumer, as well as, attracting sellers to resource their overstock inventory. EWedded is the only online marketplace where the entire luxury wedding market can come together and move new, gently loved, never used, discontinued and close-out merchandise. As such, design of the site and marketing was designed to create a unique buying experience for the consumer while providing and easy to use e-commerce solution for the retail seller to list their overstock and excess inventory.
Approach: The approach utilized while creating the dynamic private network and mobile application, was to provide a customized buying experience for each individual bride or wedding consumer. The Broadminded Media team felt the best way to achieve this goal was to create unique cultural homepages for individual verticals. Upon entry into the site/private network, the consumer answers key questions about their cultural preferences as to the type of wedding they are planning, i.e. Indian Weddings, Jewish, LGBTQ. Although there is a general homepage that serves most consumers, should the consumer identity a unique cultural preference, they are immediately directed to that specific home page, i.e. Indian Weddings, where the colors, e-commerce items, and traditions are more fitting to ease of wedding planning. Though the consumer may access the generic homepage, the cultural homepages create an extremely customized buying experience filtering all relatable items to the top of the E-commerce marketplace.
Results: Although the EWedded site is in the start-up phase, we have acquire over 200 retail bridal shops and sellers to post their items during the first few months. In addition, we have acquired several hundred consumers to join the private network and download the app. Though our focus if primarily on acquiring sellers during the first six months, consumer marketing has started and the feedback on the site has been extremely favorable.
