This was a self-directed project meant for a portfolio review at my college. I decided to make a poster regarding a problem that many people have to deal with personally.
The poster is a movie poster that has to do with first world problems. The problem specifically is having one’s food stolen by someone in their household. The aesthetic was inspired by scary movie posters from the 1950s. I wanted to capture the same tone as an old movie poster and make certain elements look as if they were drawn. I wanted to make it humorous because that’s an element that I like to include in most of my works.
The end result was something close to what I had envisioned. It does resemble a movie poster from the 50s including using the iconic “gory” typeface for the title. The only thing that I would have improved on is making the images more hand drawn to give it more of that 50s aesthetic. I’m satisfied with the result including adding humor to the poster because that’s the element that I try to incorporate in all my works.
