The world’s nations are now spending close to $2 trillion (2,000,000,000,000) annually on their military infrastructures — that represents an increase of 75% over a 20 year period — and there is no end in sight to this squandering of the world’s resources on the weapons of our own destruction. Funds now being used to rain terror on millions, suffocating the environment, obliterating infrastructure and decimating human lives could instead be channelled into achieving the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations — everything from education to healthcare. It’s not a stretch — it’s doable. It just requires a little imagination.
Putin’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022 blackened and bloodied Russia’s image in the eyes of most nations established on the foundations of a democratic tradition and a respect for international law and humanitarian norms. The senseless carnage (on both sides) and the untold damage this is doing to the fabric of relations between two countries that are essentially siblings is deeply tragic.
This poster was designed as a personal protest against Russia’s naked aggression. It is a commentary on tyranny and the destruction it leaves in its wake and the pressing need for coordinated and united global responses to threats that jeopardize our common humanity.
