The task of this assignment was to create a poster series for a poetry slam, based upon the works of three different famous Poets, Paul Laurence Dunbar, Allen Ginsberg, and Edgar Allan Poe.

The approach that was taken was to pull out the importance of what truly makes the experience of a poetry slam, the combined use of voice and the power of the spoken word, as well as the written thought that came beforehand.

The result of this approach was the play of type and image and the importance of what made each writer unique. Allen Ginsberg was pro change, peace, and revolution. With that in mind, this poster of the series was created showing the mouth of Ginsberg ( a tool that he used to promote change in his writing) and a pencil, transforming into a symbol of his pro change ideals, all combined with the hierarchy of the text being displayed at hand.
