The assignment was to create a unique letterform logo for Yara Resort company that would incorporate an object that is mixed with a letterform to be presented as a visual connection making an original, unique brand company solution.

I started out with brainstorming ideas of plants that already had a letterform in them, I noticed the bird of paradise flower right away because of its beautiful form and looking closer it already looked like the letter "Y". So I then made thumbnail sketches and tried to make the form of the flower as simple as possible because the actual flower is pretty complex. I made the flower very geometric, abstract and simple to tie in with the company of luxury and paradise. I then chose colors that were the real colors from the plant that way it would be more recognizable. I then incorporated type that was going to match the mark and ended up with Lao MN because it had that lux feel that was the purpose for the company.

The mark successfully combines the object with the letterform together to make a unique and cohesive trademark solution. The mark is very simple but it successfully reads with what the intent of the company needed.
