About a year and a half ago my dad and I started going to a cigar lounge together every time we would come to town. It became the meeting place for us when we are reunited. So, I knew I wanted to do my poster over something that held meaning to me and that I had a great interest in. I started off this process with loads of research on how to make a cigar, what they are composed of, different types, and basically any thing you could possibly know about cigars. When it came to thumbnailing the composition of the piece I realized I had entirely too much information and needed to be more specific in the process/ story that I wanted to tell. That's how I came up with the name "The Perfect Match" and made it a guide on how to find the perfect cigar. I view the whole experience of smoking a cigar as a luxury, high end, relaxing moment, and that is how I wanted this infographic to feel and communicate. I thought the navy and gold reflected that luxury in a successful way. I couldn't stop with the research and looking at cigar labels and different companies because it is all so fascinating to me. After getting the composition how I wanted it, I spent a lot of time looking for classy, elegant typefaces for both the hero and supporting type. It all came down to the details in the illustrations that I drew in procreate that really tied all of the different elements of this poster together.
