Educate and make teens aware of the STD crisis in Omaha Nebraska. The goal of the campaign was to educate teens that anyone sexuallly active can get an STD's and that it's important to get checked.
After doing focus groups with Omaha teens, we found out that most didn’t think they were at risk for getting an STD. They told us that only "skanks," "sluts," "players"and "ho's" got STD's. Not people like them. So we realized that if we were to engage kids on the subject of STD's we had to first change their perception of who was at risk to get them. So our first campaign featured teens who most people wouldn't think would be at risk of getting an STD.
Awareness through news and social media has skyrocketed about the STD problem in Omaha with the campaign generating over 20 million media impressions. More importantly, STD testing has increased at sites around Omaha.
