Us. is an online platform and direct-to-consumer service that offers men medical help and prescription birth control, to ultimately share the responsibility of contraception. The mission of Us. is to provide affordable healthcare and sexual education in a way that’s non-clinical, lighthearted, and easy to engage with. A hypothetical company, Us. was created in partnership with LA Biomed, the leading research institute on male contraceptive methods.
In my research, I found that there is a lack of funding and research poured into male contraception. It will be a decade or more until male contraception hits the market. My approach, starting with the company name, was about placing the focus on the relationship between two people, by calling the company "Us." The goal was to shift the perception of contraception as a female issue to a shared responsibility amongst couples.
The emperor penguin is the brand's spirit animal, which represents nature's most endearing role reversal of courtship and breeding. Both the custom logotype and color palette borrowed inspiration from the penguin.
A newly designed smart gel applicator bottle, smart pill bottle, custom condom, smart sperm test kit as the full product line for Us. Kits and contraception are prescribed via website, where customers could schedule a facetime appointment with a doctor, and then purchase the appropriate contraceptive method. Kits ship directly to consumers as a subscription service.
