The first season of the Australian outback-noir series Mystery Road had been a critical and ratings success. Our goal was to announce its anticipated return, which was a darker, ambitious modern-day Australian western with Detective Jay Swan (Aaron Pedersen) returning to investigate the appearance of a headless body.

Our approach was to present a nod to the western genre and storyline whilst referencing the local locations and impressive cinematography. We developed an iconic graphic of a brahman bull head – reemerging from the red Australian dirt and featuring the recognisable silhouette of Detective Jay Swan etched into it.

The key art was extremely well-received and Mystery Road Season 2 was a ratings success which went on to win the AACTA Award for Best Drama Series and several other acting awards.
