The assignment was to redesign an existing magazine and demonstrate clear typographic and editorial design skills. Creating a new, refreshed visual identity was of utmost importance when redesigning a magazine, which included a new masthead, grid, type pairings, imagery (photography and illustration), folio, departments, a feature story, etc.
FRAME magazine is a Netherlands publication that specializes in interior design, architecture, product design, and exhibition design. I re-interpreted the current design and masthead by creating a split word mark that frames the physical magazine. The same language of cropping is used throughout the publication to help frame the content of each article to create a cohesive yet abstract narrative.
This editorial solution reflects the goals of the magazine while maintaining a beautiful visual style that both sets them apart from their competitors and is recognizable by their consumer base.
