Quatro Terras is a small wine estate named after it’s four contiguous parcels of land. Located near Alcobaça, center Portugal, it is the loving project of the Horta family and aims to bring the new and old worlds together in a bottle of wine. Or four.
The different sets of conditions, namely the different soils and solar exposures, determined the plantation of a multitude of carefully chosen varieties, resulting in the four different blends created by Louis Horta, a Napa Valley vineyard consultant and enologist with roots in Portugal.
This four by four metric - suggested by the parcels and the blends - determined a very peculiar label, divided in four horizontal sections.
