The goal of this project was to design a feature opening spread for a magazine. The feature article was "Forget the Computer—Here’s Why You Should Write and Design By Hand" by Herbert Lui. Students were required to create a design that visually communicated the headline.
Approach
I wanted to stay true to the article by handcrafting the elements I was going to use. I made the type out of paper and photographed my own hands to look like they were manipulating the letters. I chose to use two different types of paper to add texture to the overall layout.
Results
After playing with multiple layouts and pushing myself, I created a successful and playful design. The client was pleased and appreciated the handcrafted elements.
