Previously known as the Symphony Guild, LUMA is a non-profit organization led by Grammy-award winning composer Mateo Messina. CRP was honored to donate branding and design services to help LUMA achieve their goal: to better communicate their mission and attract new donors, in order to raise money for Seattle Children Hospital’s Uncompensated Care Program.
CRP began by addressing the name Symphony Guild, which underrepresented the organization’s impact on children’s health in the Seattle area. So much more than just a symphony, we wanted to emphasize what Mateo and his volunteers truly represent: a limitless movement that embodies the light of hope and sparks wondrous acts of humanity. CRP further strengthened the brand by developing a new logo and visual identity system.
The logo is designed using a strong typeface, which was selected specifically to symbolize the non-profit’s bold mission to support families combating childhood cancer and diseases. The “M” serves as an interchangeable element which is illuminated through the use of colorful zig-zag lines. Depending on the application, the “M” can be altered visually through the use of patterning, iconography, color, photography, and/or hand-drawn illustration. This serves a dual purpose: to pay homage to founder Mateo Messina, as well as represent the organization’s transformative impact on the community.
