We started with a stylized aperture that used her initials, but it still looked old fashioned. We then moved on to an icon that looked more like a stamp, but again, looked old school. We ditched the script font she had and decided a more blocky approach was more suited to her style and personality. One day, sitting at the coffee shop we were meeting at sparked a design idea from our surroundings and that was when her icon really started taking shape. A stylized aperture became her main icon. We then tweaked the shape at the top right and bottom left corners to add in some natural curves and to accentuate the initial "S" that is the logo mark you see here.
The additional variation of the "aperture" filled with her beautiful photos can be updated as often as she likes. She also has the option of using the outlined version as a watermark on her photos for promotional purposes.
