Create a hardcover jacket for this magnum opus from Alejandro Jodorowsky. This semi-autobiographical novel tells the fantastic story of the Jodorowskys’ emigration from Ukraine to Chile amidst the political and cultural upheavals of the 19th and 20th centuries. Where the Bird Sings Best transforms family history into heroic legend and expands the classic immigration story to mythic proportions.

This is a story with many, many potential visual directions. But one of the themes is a circus featuring among other things lion tamers, which seemed like a good overall umbrella theme for the vastly varied stories and much of the mayhem that unfolds. Other important themes are Jewish mysticism, the Tarot, and beekeeping(!)--all included in the vintage circus themed jacket.

The book has performed well both critically and commercially. While a huge cult figure outside the US, Jodorowsky has yet to gain a wider following in the US. Our hopes with this jacket was to introduce him to a wider audience, and so far the book has exceeded expectations.
