The present work was commissioned by the portuguese company Lionesa. Project: A Fábrica (The Factory). The company 'Lionesa' was once one of the most important factories in the textile industry in Portugal. The place where it functioned, has remained until today with all its historical importance, evidenced by the adjoining and austere Monastery of Leça do Balio. It is currently a business hub, housing diversified companies, having become almost a ‘small town’, which has its own life.
The panel entitled 'A Fábrica’ was specially designed to be placed at the main entrance of this company. It covers the company's entrance gate - 30 m long x 3 m high - which is known by 'Gate Gallery’. Times have changed, the future progresses, but this memory of excellence was not cleared. The image intends to narrate this industrial era through the allusion to rollers and transmission belts, to elements that represent fabrics of dynamic geometric patterns, which are transformed into floral elements. Forms that intertwine, renew and multiply, a sign of an expanding company, with a future full of innovative projects.
A tremendous success. From some details of the panel, some products for the company's menchandising were made. This graphic project was also adapted to the cover of the book 'A Fábrica'/ The Factory, which tells the story of this century-old company.
