The Three Graces (Euphrosyne, Aglaia, and Thalia) defined beauty in classical mythology and renditions of famous artists from antiquity to today. The concept was to emulate, in camera, the feeling captured by the amazing paintings of Raphael, Botticelli, and Peter Paul Rubens, and especially, the sculpture by Canova.

The approach was to use the posture conveyed by the original paintings as an inspiration. To impart the feelings the graces were conveying, the models were given a storyline that had them express certain emotions.
