Our campaign for 2020 captured and blended a little bit of Hollywood bravado by adding glitz to the coastal vibe, sea, and sand. The concept for Judd Brand Media's identity for the Coronado Film Festival is inspired both by its incredible location and a desire to present the Festival in a fresh light.
Inspired by the iconic location, our golden mermaid (or film muse) emerges from the shoreline with the retro film reel becoming the focal point. Frames of Mind represents each filmmaker's minds eye that goes into every scene, every frame, every second that goes into creating a film. The reel serves as a window to reveal the wonders of how film takes you on a journey of heart and mind to different places and moments.The background evolved the sandy beach into tiny bright orbs & spotlights complemented by rich aqua waves as sky taking their brand color palette beyond literal expressions. The individual holding the reel represents for the filmgoer the hand selection of each film by the festival, and for the filmmaker, the coveted "gold" reel — a metaphor for their accomplishment, no small feat! Layered circles of light dance playfully around the reel, portraying the magic and spirit of imagination innate to the independent film experience.
