The goal of this project was to create a sustainability edition of a quarterly publication focused on a topic of interest. I chose to create a literary magazine based around the art of creative writing. Throughout the publication, I aimed to connect the topic of sustainability to creative writing.
I was inspired by the tactile aspect of writing, the movement of ink and the texture of paper. To create my imagery, I dropped ink into a large fish tank filled with water, and quickly photographed each unique cloud of ink. For the typographic content of the magazine, I used my own poetry and short stories that I have written. I then took photographs that I felt captured the emotions and mystery of each story.
I had great results with this project. Out of everything I've created, this project has brought out the most passionate and emotional reactions from my peers and professors. I received an excellent grade, but what was most rewarding to me was the opportunity to make people feel something.
