This is Flow, a publication project that was done for a Graphic Design III class in the Fall semester of 2019. Flow is a hip-hop/rap publication that focuses on the history and development of rap and MC’s from the Golden Age to modern times. Flow incorporates a timeline aspect to the publication which the reader can follow to know some historical key moments of rap. The publication dives deep into the different categories of rap as well as it’s pioneers and their game changing legacy. Flow was a personal project to me as it was something I’ve wanted to do for a long time being a big hip-hop fan. The publication is an 8 page, 11x17in project, only using two spot colors.
The project needed to include over 12,000 words of copy and imagery that reflected the project. The approach to Flow was a very simple and slick layout using cut out imagery. As well as that, there is incorporation of my own unique style on the front and back covers. Through the use of teal/cyan colors, Flow has a light and clear professional look to it, which was essential upon creation.
