This is a personal project in response to the ivory wars.
Inhabiting the border between photography, art and public service announcement these images were conceived for impact.
Fascinated by the majestic beauty, intelligence and highly social nature of these animals, I utilize the stark canvas to present black & white images of the powerful African Savanna Elephant juxtaposed against grim red, signifying the blood from elephants slaughtered daily for their ivory.

I photographed the captive African savanna elephant in a large studio. By presenting the message in the form of a public service announcement, the directive remains concise.
If the viewer lingers, they gain perspective from the visual content.
