This assignment was to create a new advertisement for Play Doh using the brand identity that's already been established. I am marketing towards adults of kids that are old enough to use Play Doh. I want parents to know that Play Doh is a product that empowers kids to be who they are and embrace their imagination. Nothing is impossible with Play Doh. It is the only product out there that lets kids express their creativity freely.
Play Doh creates most of their ads by using the actual product to form words and objects. In order to keep the consistency, I mirrored their technique while fusing it with my own idea. I wanted to create something simple while using common terminology to make sure this was an idea people could easily recognize and relate to. I decided to leave out the body copy because the photo speaks for itself, and you do not need any additional information to understand what the product is.
The most persuasive idea of this ad is that nothing is impossible with Play Doh. If pigs can fly, their child can do anything they set their mind to. This worked out well because parents already have a lot of belief that their child is going to turn out to be the best at whatever they decide to do. Every mom wants to empower their child to truly be themselves. The message of this ad, Never Say Never, just gives them affirmation that they are right to be encouraging their child’s imagination.
