The Satori Capital project involved redesigning and launching dual company websites for each of its business sectors: Satori Capital and Satori Alpha. Satori Capital invests equity capital in growing private companies, while Satori Alpha manages investment portfolios for institutions, family offices and high-net worth individuals. The original websites were not only outdated, but communicated a company image that severely contrasted the company culture. As a company, Satori prides itself in opposing industry stereotypes by maintaining a unique culture and method for conducting business. Satori’s culture reflects many Buddhist ideas, including mediation before meetings and incorporating healthy living in work life. The name “satori” derives from a Buddhist belief: the “moment of satori” or moment of perfect clarity. The original website failed to speak to their unconventional character. Our new design solved Satori’s problem in several ways. The design implements a nontraditional left-side navigation to reflect the nontraditional aspects of the company culture. Additionally, the left-side navigation created an open and breathable browser. The browser provided the opportunity to fill the website with interior, architectural photography of the company’s workspace. The culture of the company exudes through the office design, and incorporating original photography brought that representation to the website.
