The design assignment was to create a celebratory new year’s card, that is emailed out to clients and potential clients every year that showcases, captures, and promotes the creativity and innovation that are the hallmark the firms work. The aim was to package that inherent excellence through a witty and memorable design that would compel clients to preserve the piece long after the newness of the year had passed—helping to promote the firm and increase its visibility with new potential clients.

The approach was to capture the creativity of the firm’s work in a singular design piece. Each year the design firm sends out these e-cards that are created to intrigue, and delight our client base. In most cases, they serve as conversation starters and humanize the relationship by establishing a wonderfully informal channel of communication that is outside the “professional” relationship. Typography was used to play with the numbers that were unique to the new year being heralded and the “i” and “g” were converted to the number eighteen.

The success of these emailings is measured through the responses that we receive from our existing clients and by the calls that we get from potential clients. It has been our record, that we get a response for almost every email sent. We are able to reach out to a select number in higher positions of decision making within our client base but all those that are involved with us from other ranks. This card serves as a strong relationship builder.

Originally our firm used to mail printed pieces that were sent via snail mail. With the card now being sent via snail mail, our outreach has doubled and has impacted both communication and business with our clients.
