This assignment called for creating a brandmark for the company Noctune, a late-night radio station that prides itself on playing the best hits all night long—whether you’re driving back home from a late shift, or having an enjoyable night out with friends.
In approaching this assignment, I wanted to utilize the visual of a “night owl” but also communicate the radio station aspect of Noctune as well. The goal was to create a timeless brandmark that not only communicates a sense of modernity and friendliness, but also establishes a mark that can be expanded further into the brand experience.
In finalizing the logo, I wanted a very simple form that would easily translate in any scale and have an expandable brand for a general audience. The typeface used was selected to mimic the brandmark and balance out the form while the colors were chosen to create a warm and inviting tone while also imitating the coloration of an owl’s feathers. The logo was well received by several design faculty members, peers, and effectively communicated the brand voice.
