The goal of this campaign was to create a new image for the Walla Walla Sweet Onions, a type of sweet onion grown in a small region in Walla Walla, Washington.
Onions generally have a negative reputation, so I decided to use the facts and unique origin story about this onion to my advantage. Romanticized food language that shares the history and love put into this onion, as well as the custom hand lettering with a chalk type texture, create a new tone for the small-town onion with restaurant quality and reaches a new younger audience who may be just getting into cooking.
To extend the campaign into the digital realm, a series of short "Sweet Tips" stop motion videos have been created sharing basic onion cooking tips featuring the Walla Walla Sweet Onion.
The end result is a unified campaign of ads and a series of stop motion "Sweet Tips" videos to engage with their audience.
