The project brief was to create a series of posters to raise awareness of endangered species of animals, choosing animals from the same classifications, and without using illustrations, and using only two to three colours. The posters then can be placed individually or next to each other in order to create more visual impact.

Since more and more animals are facing the extinction, we as humans should be responsible for this crisis because our actions are creating gigantic damage to them. Therefore I choose some of the most know mammals in Asia and the world, but also some of the most vulnerable to change in the environment: the Sumatran tiger, the Siberian tiger, the Bengal tiger and the Amur leopard.

I used a close-up of the animals faces to lead the audience to the animal’s eyes, and X marks to indicate warning. When the four posters are placed next to each other each animal’s half face will match with another animal’s half face and also the X marks will be seen entire, thus the posters work as individual piece but when combined as a series their visual and messaging impact further increases.

The design was well received by the teacher and the classmates alike; the design solution successfully showed the possibilities of increasing awareness for a current problem with traditional media, yet making the best possible use of a few colours and good graphic design making a poster that can be seen both as a sequence or as a large format poster series.
