Tired of receiving typical corporate calendars, corporate gifts you'd probably never make good use of, and making New Year resolutions that never make it past the 2nd of January? The team at BEAMY realizes that these are the harsh truths of life.
We realize that often, corporate calendars have the same ubiquitous look and many corporate gifts exchanged during the festive season are hardly made good use of. New Year resolutions made also never last beyond the 2nd of January. Hence, we decided to take matters in our own hands (quite literally) and create our own New Year survival kit - titled Same Sh*t, Different Year - that says it like it is and showcases our passion for design and dark brand of humor. The kit contains a calendar highlighting milestone dates (not actual holidays, because that’s just too practical), postcards, gift tags, wrapping paper and raffia string that you can use for gifting, re-gifting or perhaps not even gifting…
On each page of our calendar is also a witty one liner that pokes fun at a festival or a milestone event happening in the month. For example, for January, 1st January (New Year’s Day) is highlighted and the tagline says “Make the resolutions that you’ll break tomorrow. Some one liners are specific to China, for example in October, 1st October (National Day) is highlighted and the tagline says “Here’s a great tip: get out of the country”. This is because during the week long National Day Golden Week holiday, there is a mass movement of people in China as the Chinese make a trip back to their hometowns or travel domestically, causing internal transportation networks to be unbearably overloaded.
Our audience of mostly creative and marketing professionals actually found our brand of dark humor refreshing, and brought them laughter, as compared to the usual corporate calendars and Christmas/Happy New Year paraphernalia. Many have sent their thanks and photos of where they've placed the calendars and content of the kit. Some even asked if they could purchase extra sets for gifting purposes.
