This publication is a documentation of my thesis research - Craft as Time Capsule: Postdigital Preservation. The research focuses on the intertranslation between crafts and digital data, examining the preservation of physical and digital experiences through multiple design projects. This thesis book aims to archive my research process and serves as a foundation for my future design practice.

The visual design of the publication has evolved along the process, taking in and digesting design responses throughout the research.

The cover design and the layout of the book follow a rigid grid system inspired by the letterpress. As digital editing is based a lot on the letterpress system, it is undeniably relevant to reference that in the design of the publication. The type choices of the book align with the website that I built for this research, juxtaposing web typography with a bold script font to manifest the relationship between physical and digital experiences.

The project received positive feedbacks and opened up meaningful conversations with my mentors and colleagues. The research is recognized by industry professionals and featured in AIGA NY's 2020 Fresh Grad series.
