As an ambassador for Chinese culture in America, Panda Express celebrates Chinese New Year every year in their stores. We were tasked with creating an easy way for families to celebrate in their homes and learn the eight major traditions of the holiday.
Our solution was to create a Celebration Kit to be handed out in stores. The kit included festive decorations and a game for families to enjoy. The design of the materials merged the iconographic style of the in-store POP with the illustration style of an educational video created the year prior to make a friendly and approachable aesthetic for all ages.
The Celebration Kits were handed out in their 1,800+ stores, with many stores running out of the items to give away. The game from the kit was turned into a branded digital card deck for Ellen DeGeneres’s app called Heads Up!, which Ellen played on her show with her in-studio audience.
