The goal of this project was to better understand data information and how designers analyze, organize, and visualize complex information. The best topics to pick from were ones about public health, the environment, and other social issues to raise awareness. Once choosing a topic, the goal was to find data about this topic and create a useful and visually interesting poster to communicate the information.

I chose the topic of food allergies for my poster because this is a rising problem in America. Sadly, there is not a ton of data on food allergies, but I found important data to use for my design. The data includes how many adults and children have food allergies, demographics, yearly reaction totals, and what types of food people are most allergic to. There's a lot of ways to represent data and I was able to figure out the best way to represent the data I chose. Along with this task, I related the design, title, and color palette to food allergies. Included are short descriptions of each minor section of data to give context of why it's important.

The result of this poster and its information was eye opening to the audience who did not realize food allergies are a growing problem. The poster is informative, yet follows basic design principles to create a visually interesting piece.
