Spire 2015 Buck Naked Magnetic Holiday Card Mailer At Spire, we believe the company holiday card is one of the most overlooked opportunities in all of marketing. Few companies put more than a passing thought into their card, if they send one at all: many businesses are now choosing to send an easily-deleted branded email. But with a little creativity you can get your brand in front of your clients in their most highly trafficked spaces for a month or more. Who would pass up free advertising like that?
Each year we seek to create a card that will surprise and delight our clients, often incorporating interactive and three-dimensional aspects to break through the clutter of a crowded mantelpiece. This year, we introduced our clients to Buck, a friendly deer who is ready to party. The magnetic card came with two sheets of magnetic dress-up outfits and accessories. Recipients could style Buck with a tuxedo and waxed mustache; go casual with a Hawaiian shirt and sunglasses; or even as eclectic as the usual Spire holiday party dress code (elf costume, snorkel mask, bow tie and headphones). Sent with a cardboard stand, card recipients could play with Buck and display their creations for the entire office to see.
And play they did. Our clients, vendors and past connections dressed him up and shared photos of their creations (often posed next to liquor bottles and party décor -- those outfits were usually the best). One client even took the kit party-hopping to show it off, letting other guests play, too. While not specifically a new-business piece, several prospective clients have reached out to us to discuss new projects after seeing the card, providing the agency with the gift of high ROI.
