Feminism + Co. is a program series at the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver that examines issues relating to women and gender through film, lectures, performances and discussions. The series explores contemporary culture through issues relating to women and gender. The 2014 lectures included the themes of Women in Prison, Country Music Duets, the New Anti-Heroine and a panel with artist Senga Nengungi to discuss her art that evokes the female body. EBD was tasked with designing a poster-style mailer to raise awareness and notify interested people of the upcoming scheduled events.
Our client asked us to concept western, vintage designs that spoke to gender stereotypes and the ideas of a feminine heroine. We sketched, searched, and collaborated as a team to the outcome was a very simple close up shot of western boots & legs of a cowgirl with a Lena Dunham-style Ferdinand tattoo that the client loved.
This year’s mailer resulted in sold out shows & heightened interest in the Feminism + Co program.
