The objective of this work for the 5th Annual Derby Watch Party was to create an invitation to the community and potential donors to come together for a Kentucky Derby viewing party with the purpose of raising awareness and funds for the ALS Association Wisconsin Chapter and Multiple Sclerosis Society Wisconsin Chapter.
Our approach was to design a poster inviting the viewer into the world of the Kentucky Derby and a great social cause using unexpected copy, engaging typography and bold design.
The 2020 event, like nearly all non-profit fundraising events, was impacted by COVID protocols making communications related to awareness and engagement vitally important. The race, held with no race fans at Churchill Downs, was delayed five months. All proceeds generated through the virtual event benefitted both non-profit organizations.
