Create an alphabet, either uppercase or lowercase, using objects found in your dorm/apartment. Develop a successful alphabet that is strong conceptually with tons of typographic expression.
Approach
I wanted to use an object that had a large emotional connection to me. I've loved skateboarding since early childhood; each deck tells a story, and I wanted that to be captured in the letters. I wanted the letters to be a mixture of pleasing, yet give some of the edge that skateboarding has. I wanted the angles to imply the movement and energy that comes with the sport.
Results
I created a successful typeface that was fun and bold and structured.
