This photo series started as a personal project and later turned into an editorial assignment. I keep an on going list of subjects and stories I'd love to shoot for myself. I feel like these personal projects are the lifeblood of a creative career. They take me back to a time when I just made pictures for the shear love of it.

On these personal shoots I try to keep the production pretty lean. Sometimes I'll go out by myself and other times I'll bring my assistant to help make the day flow a little smoother.
This personal project turned into an editorial assignment when I mentioned it to the editor of a magazine I shoot for regularly. He loved the idea and thought if we could get the right image, it could also be a cover. Ultimately we did get the cover, but most important to me was being able to see this concept turn from an idea on paper to a series that I'm really proud of.

This series turned into one of my favorites and ultimately won the cover of the magazine.
