Shin Matsunaga

Bio:

Born in Tokyo in 1940. He graduated from the design department of the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music in 1964. Matsunaga worked in the advertising division of Shiseido Co., Ltd., and went on to found Shin Matsunaga Design Inc. in 1971. His major works ; the posters for cosmetics summer campaign of shiseido, the posters “PEACE” ; corporate identity design for “Issey Miyake Inc.” and “The National Museum of Western Art”; package design for French cigarette “Gitanes” selected as the 1st prize at international competition and the symbol mark design for “Benesse Corporation”,“Bandai Co.,Ltd.” “Calbee Foods Co.,Ltd.” and etc. His major solo exhibitions toured museum in Japan. And it were held at Warsaw, Yugoslavia, New York, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Belgium, Slovenia, Hamburg. The permanent collections of 75 museums around the world, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, Cooper-Hewitt Museum in USA, the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, contain many of his works.
