Sharon Lloyd McLaughlin is the founder and Creative Director of Mermaid, Inc, located in New York City. She believes that creativity isn’t a solid thing, but a fluid process. For her, the fluid world mermaids inhabit is an excellent metaphor for the fluid state of mind needed to thrive in today’s rapidly evolving business environment. Hence Mermaid, Inc.’s tagline, “Fluid Creativity.” Her superpower lies in her intuitive ability to understand a client’s vision deeply, then create branding that resonates with it. After earning her BFA in Graphic Design from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA, she moved to New York City with a one-way ticket and a collection of her favorite fonts. Sharon immediately found work as an art director with DMBB & FCB/Leiber Katz, happily immersing herself in the city's energy and diversity of life. Here, she also developed a fascination with architecture. This led to her continuing work in real estate branding, where she discovers the unique personality of each building and expresses it with powerful visual storytelling. Sharon’s areas of expertise include brand identity, brand strategy, brand stories, corporate identity, advertising, marketing collateral, website design, naming, and brand consulting. She works well collaborating with agencies or working directly with companies. Her clients range from marquee brands like Ferrari to solopreneur start-ups. Her insatiable curiosity and her contagious passion for her work can be seen in the 340+ awards she has been honored to receive.
