Graphis ArchivesBorn and raised in Brooklyn, near Coney Island, Michael graduated from The Cooper Union School of Art and went on to start his own design studio in New York City. His career in graphics has spanned four decades and, most recently, he expanded his body of work to include font design with the creation of his digital type foundry, Alphabet Soup. Currently he runs his studio out of Hollywood, CA, sharing it with his wife, illustrator Laura Smith.
Michael is as an illustrative letterforms artist. His work alternates between completing assignments such as logos, posters, magazine and record covers, etc., and designing original typefaces.
