Biography/Work Experience

Mark is a multidisciplinary graphic designer, art director, filmmaker, and educator. With over a decade of experience as an advertising creative, he has a diverse but finely-tuned skill set. Beyond the agency world, he has a special interest in branding, identity systems, and poster design for small businesses and film and music projects. He’s the co-founder of a design and content studio called Houndstooth, which focuses on branding, commercial video content, and independent film.

Philosophy on Work

Mark learned the principles of classic, time-tested, powerful design from his mother and father who are both designers themselves. They instilled in him a passion for the balance between aesthetic beauty and conceptual relevance. Mark believes that regardless of craft, style, or adherence to trends, a clear, clever, and poignant idea will elevate quality and increase engagement.

Professional Specialties

Mark works on a wide range of assignments, from 360 campaigns to digital executions. He has a special interest identity and poster design, because of it's immediacy, raw power, and storytelling potential. More recently he's enjoyed delving into the world of animation, motion graphics, and video editing. He enjoys tackling assignments from a variety of angles and is equally comfortable with photo-manipulation, type-driven executions, and hand crafted lettering. Before his professional design career, Mark spent countless hours drawing and developing handmade analog art techniques.


Mark’s design work has been recognized by Graphis, HOW, CMYK Magazine, Art Director's Club, Creativity, Creative Quarterly and LogoLounge. He will be featured in an upcoming book about poster design, published by Bloomsbury.

Proudest Achievements

Mark was a guest lecturer at Kean University and a panelist at the AICP Basecamp. Currently, he teaches a class on unconventional and conceptual lettering at the School of Visual Arts alongside his father. Two of his identities were selected as Top 10 Winner's in HOW's 2019 Logo Design Awards. His first short film, which he co-wrote and co-directed, had it's world premiere at the Big Apple Film Festival and is an Official Selection at the Garden State Film Festival.

Mark writes, produces, and co-directs films with his wife Courtney. When he's not busy making things, he enjoys international travel, trips to the movie theater, reading classic sci fi novels, trying (quite unsuccessfully) to reconcile the theory of relativity with quantum mechanics, and listening to lots of good music.
