Bio:

Jamie Clarke is a Type Designer and Lettering Artist. His lettering and illustration work is often highly decorative, frequently taking inspiration from the Arts and Crafts movement. Jamie's popular typefaces all have a strong link with his lettering work having been developed as part of an illustration, or for use alongside it. After studying Graphic Design, Jamie graduated from university in 1995 and spent the early part of his career as a web designer. He started his own design agency in 2003, which he ran with his partners until the business was sold in 2013. Type Design Returning to his passion for type and typography, Jamie enrolled in the intensive Type Design course at the University of Reading in 2013. Two years later he released his first retail typeface, Brim Narrow. This was followed by 'Rig Shaded'. which won a Graphis Platinum Award in 2019. Over 1 million people use his fonts each quarter via Adobe Fonts. His 3D font, Rig Solid, has been included in Canva since 2018. His typefaces have featured on many high-profile design projects, including Disney's Beauty and the Beast the Musical and Burna Boy's African Giant album cover. Lettering Jamie uses a blend of words and imagery to create meticulously crafted illustrations. His cover for The Woman in Black was shortlisted for Academy of British Cover Design best classic cover. Writing Including his own blog, Type for Illustration, Jamie has written widely about type for several journals including, Google Fonts Knowledge, I Love Typography, CreativeBloq and his previous blog, Type Worship.
