Bio:

The german born artist grew up near Cologne. Gabriele Viertel is best known for her underwater staged photographs. Conceptually, Viertels' images play with the dialog between the mediums of painting and photography. The magical and sensual, often surreal pictorial language and the chiaroscuro light are characteristic means of expression. Viertel’s work has been exhibited in musea and galleries in Europe and the United States and is located in prestigious private collections as well as the collection of the Fort Wayne Museum of Art and the University of Art, Rotterdam. Her distinctive images have rapidly caught the attention, receiving numerous of awards and has been featured by media worldwide. Gabriele Viertel lives and works in the Netherlands.
