Bjorn Iooss was born and raised in New York and graduated with a BFA in photography from the Rhode Island School of Design. His portraits explore the borders of the photojournalistic genre, combining elements of the decisive moment with the reflection and certainty of the classic portrait. Iooss's work, at once classic and edgy, has been concerned of late with an application of dramatic lighting on his subjects.
