The Objective of this project was to design a promo poster for a NPR pod-cast of our choosing from the series Hidden Brain. I choose The Science of Fear, It talks about why someone would ever voluntary go to a haunted house and pay to be scared. It also talks about how when a person is really scared it helps them forget the anxieties of day to day life.
The approach that I took for this poster was to combine type and image. I took pictures of things like saw blades, chain saw blades, and props that resemble human fingers. Once I had those pictures combined with the other letters I made the type Into a duotone and halftone image. I did this to give it a more unified look, and also added an old mirror that I scanned and put the halftone effect on. I wanted the poster to have a haunted house theme that is why I picked those images and letters with red paint to resemble blood.
The poster turned out successful and I believe the red will draw a person in to get a closer look and also read the summary about the podcast. The images still have the realistic look to them while also being unified.
