This project was completed during my Typographic Design course taught by Claudia Strong at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications in Syracuse, NY. I was tasked with creating a stamp series for the U.S. Postal Service that deals with an under-represented topic or focuses on people different that myself.
Because I've had a love of sports for as long as I can remember, I wanted to focus my stamp series on the women that inspired me to keep playing throughout the years. Serena Williams, Mary Lou Retton, Nancy Lieberman, and Wilma Rudolph represent the many decades of professional female athletes playing both for the US and for a cause greater than themselves. In creating this project, I strive to bring their stories into the modern world and help to inspire the next generation of powerful female athletes.
This project was successful through its powerful representation of each professional female athlete and is a series that the US Postal Service would want to adopt.
